INCUBUS LIVE IN MANILA….

Ok here goes my incubus story…( Ang tagal ko na gusto ilabas ‘to….) kung di lang sira yung PC ko e…

I can’t remember the exact date but I got my ticket last week of January…(excited no?) mahirap na maubusan.



Jan 31 Incubus Street Team GA

Ryan(my favorite high school buddy) and I joined the Incubus Street Team. What is this incubus street team? Incubus fans unite to promote our beloved band….Sony music provided us posters and fliers to endorse the latest incubus album and their upcoming concert…the best incubus e-rep will get to win a limited edition incubus poster, a crow left of the murder album (with DVD), autographed white fluffy clouds book of Brandon Boyd and you get to meet and greet the band. Wehhhoooowwwlycoweeee!

I did my best that I can do to promote the band (hehe..mejo lang, may work ako e..busy kunyare..walang panahon)..email – email ng friends to please buy the new album…namigay ng fliers sa mga gigs..basta nag promote ako noh.. gumawa ren ako ng long letter telling them how much I love the band, that I’ve been supporting them ever since Dec. 1997, and that I should really win blah blah blah…Di ako nanalo ng meet and greet but I was one of the finalist, kick ass incubus goodies waiting for me on march 16..…so ok na yun..mas deserving talaga manalo si Tashia, I’m so happy for you my dear.

NU 107 had their contest too, bring an incubus memorabilia and sing your heart out with your favorite incubus song…laftrip yun sobra! I really wanted to join…I want to meetthe band..been waiting for the longest time na noh! In fact called an ex-BF that hated so much hoping that I could bawi my foxy grandma shirt that I gave him (foxy grandma shirt = Brandon Boyd was wearing that super cool shirt on the Drive Video…remember?) I thought it would be so rare if I show up with an incubus memorabilia like that… but he didn’t let me borrow the shirt…e bad trip yun..leche.mamatay ka na! So I decided not to join the contest anymore …It’s so laftrip!…di ko yata kakayanin..i don’t have the guts. E pano ko ma-mi-meet yung band? Awww…wala na yatang pag asa!

Philippine Daily Inquirer had their contest too..write an article… “how much you love the band” I send them the article I made for Sony Music…sa email lang naman e, try naten, wala namang mawawala…and I won! Astig! Much Thanks to my college buddy Noelski …He’s the one who told me about the Inquirer contest…at nung college kame palage namen pinag uusapan ang araw na pagkikita namen ni Brandon Boyd…trip trip lang yan noon..tsaka mas masarap pag usapan si Brandon Boyd kesa makinig sa DEVCOM subject diba? Hello misis Arboleda..buhay ka pa? nagtuturo ka pa ren…tama na po..parusa ka e!

Pero eto seryoso.. pano ko ma-mi-meet yung band? Pakshet naman e... pano nayan? Brandon…pano na tayo nyan? Hindi tayo magkikita? Hindi pwede...hindi pwede…taong grasa ka pa lang noon mahal na kita e…tignan nyo may ginawa pa ako collage ng mga pics nya dati…2001 pa yan e…(alam ko na iniisep mo..incubus fan ako dahil kay brandon…hay nako…tae!)

March 11..Dadating na sila..(mabilis na kwento na ‘to..inaantok na ako…2:42 am na e)

Tashia told me that the band is arriving around 11am (kanta yan ah!..) abang tayo sa airport..TARA! e langya..nagbago ng route..wala kaming nakitang apparition ng kahit anong incubus sa airport…pupunta ako sa Westin Philippine Plaza..may friend naman ako na che-check in sa hotel ng hapon..so may karapatan ako sa place.

Gusto ko lang murahin yung taxi driver na sinakyan namen..kase from airport siningil kame ng 420 pesos hanggang coastal lang…hello? Sobra ka naman manong..karma yan…30 years from now asa taxi ka pa ren pag pinagpatuloy mo yan…


Sa Westin…

We saw Francis Brew Reyes..sabi nya “alam ko kung bakit kayo nandito”…ya-re..mukhang papalabasin kami sa hotel anytime soon..I texted my friend Dencio “huy anong oras ka check in? ..di sha nag te-textback…so mukha talaga kameng jologs sa hotel..Umalis na yung ibang kasama namen kase nga walang incubus sa hotel..nasa room daw, nagpapahinga. Ayoko umalis ..dito lang ako. Hindi ko man sila makita ayus lang…we’re on the same building…hahaha! It’s good thing that Mel decided to stay with me…(Mel…kamusta ka na?) MEL= my partner in incubus stalking.

We went to the concert place…pa picture picture..



Mel and I decided to take our lunch…usap kame seryoso kung babalik kame sa Westin at kung ano ano man…While we were having our lunch we met this manong who happens to be the driver of the concert’s production manager…He told us that his bossing is staying at the 6th floor of the hotel and so is the band…

Mel: 6th floor?
Grace: oo nasa 6th floor sila..balik tayo hotel? *hint hint*

Tapos nag text si Tashia..”they’re on the pool area”

Ay pucha..tara na Mel..balik na tayo.

We’re about to enter the pool area and the guard asked for our room number… i texted Dencio again…and he told me that he’ll be at the hotel tomorrow pa…oh my god! So we have to order something in the hotel para di obvious ang aming pang-i-istalk..

Awwww…we can see the band members and their posse from where we’re seating…



kala ko si Brandon yan…hindi pala..pag tayo nya ang laki pala ng tiyan!

we saw jose and mike…heading their room.

Mel: huy si jose ba yun and mike… Baka babalik na sa room nila. anong gagawin naten?
Grace: panic tayo 6th floor..bahala na..mauna na tayo.

Takbo kame…

Naglaro kame ng elevator..6th floor..down…6th floor..down…6th floor down..ulet…
hanggang sa muntik na namen makasabay sina jose and mike sa elevator..ang lapit na nila e…ang sarap sabunutan ni einziger…ang lambot siguro ng buhok nya..tapos si jose sobra ka cute…my god!

Seryosong usap ulet:

Grace: pag nilapitan naten sila malalaman na ng mga securities na we’re here for the band..baka paalisin tayo…ayoko
Mel:Puntahan na lang naten sa room tapos bigay naten kunyare yung artwork and gift mo..hindi naman masama yun siguro…

Pag balik namen sa 6th floor nakapasok na sila sa room..at may tatlong securities na bantay sa room..may hawak pang pamalo…nyaaaykkks di na lang..baba na tayo.

No hopes na talaga…hay buhay…sayang naman mga dala namen for the band so naisep ko na kausapen na lang lahat ng foreigners sa hotel malay mo baka kasama nila..

Sakto..isang matabang lalaki…onaks.. nakasabay namen sa elevator(pangalan nya ay greg)

Grace: are you here for the concert?
Greg: yeah..I’m one of incubus’ soundmen.
Grace: uhmmm..ahhh..uhhmmmm ..sir…ahhh we are obviously doing our incubus-stalking and I know this is so so wrong to do but can you please be nice to us and just give these stuffs to the band members?
Greg: I can do that.
We gave our stuffs…

He’s really nice…we bumped into him again…

Grace: where’s Darren? Darren Boyd…
Greg: Darren is not with us anymore… but how come you know him?
Grace: he’s the brother and assistant of Brandon Boyd right?
Greg: Yeah…he got married and he’s doing his own thing now..but how come you know him? ( sobra amused na mukha!)
Grace: uhmmm…I’m a real fan..
And he gave me this truly sweet smile.

So balik kame ni Mel sa pwesto…order ng kape.. still staring at the remaining incubus members (ben,chris,Brandon) sa pool area….

Hindi na namen alam gagawen namen…anjan si Liza Nakpil pakalat kalat..masungit yun e…baka makita nya kame, si liza yung producer na nagdala ng incubus dito sa manila. Ayoko mapaalis…so tago tago lang kame..

Hala tumayo na si Ben Kenney,Chris Kilmore at Brandon Boyd..babalik na siguro sa room…may kasama silang securities..pero wala ako paki alam..di naman siguro ako babastusin ni Brandon Boyd…kakalimutan ko na lang lahat ng kahihiyan na pwede mangyare…iba ito e..baka hindi na maulet muli ang moment..sabi ko sa sarile ko…”grace…people don’t call you BRUTAL for nothing putang ina ka grace..wag mong sayangin…GO GO GO!”

Abang kame ni Mel…hanggang sa ayan na nga….OH MY GOD..they’re like 6 feet away from me...nangangatog yung tuhod ko…


Grace: Hey Brandon..can we have a picture together?

The securities tried blocking me on my way near him..

“Hey it’s ok …it’s ok…” ---Brandon Boyd
(that’s like the sweetest thing I’ve ever heard in my entire life..)

Sha na mismo lumapet…awww…nadurog ang puso ko…ang bango nya…at natulala talaga ako nung nagkaron kame ng eye contact…ang ganda ng mata nya..brown eyes chong, he’s everything that I imagine nung 17 pa lang ako..sa loob loob ko e nakasama rin kita…FINALLY! (kahit saglit lang)

Grace: (calm…calm… ale…ale …cool ka lang …) I have a gift for you, I gave it to Greg.
BrandonBoyd: I’ll check it later.
Grace: I’m the one who’s been sending you gifts and letters from the Philippines..
BrandonBoyd: oh yeah I remember…(he gave me a really sweet smile)
(charing!…tang ina ka Brandon..maniwala ako sayong naaalala mo pa yun…anyways kahit makalimuitan mo..ayus lang!..ikaw naman si Brandon e)
Grace: it’s good that you guys are finally here..we’ve been waiting for so long..
Brandon: I know I know…

while I was setting my camera for some shots…he talked to Chris Kilmore and he pointed his finger on to my camera… seems like they’re talking about it “that’s the one..blah blah blah…” wow sikat si Zephyro (camera ko) gusto siguro ni Brandon non…pag hiningi nya kaya yung camera ko ibibigay ko? …..hindi noh…bayaran mo! O kaya kunin nyo akong photographer, sama nyo ako sa tour nyo…hahaha! (utak ko talaga e noh?)

Grabe even Mel was so speechless too…Sobrang Frustrated na kase kame nung una..as in no hopes..pero na meet namen..hahaha that’s the kind of thing you’ll get from stalking! Astig diba? Apir!

CONCERT! March 12…
The long wait is over…I’m supposed to be at row 25 seat 15 but I found myself in front of the concert place, with just the first barricades from the band blocking me…i got a really good spot that I’m actually willing to pay more if only I was asked of course…

Much Thanks to Anne (from Ideal Minds Production) she volunteered for the concert and asked me to stay with her in front before the concert started…

Game na…start na! TAKBO SA HARAP!

I didn’t enjoy the new songs that they played because I’m still on the stage of what the fuck happened to this band…the songs are good but I just can’t relate and I can’t sing along. I bought a crow left of the murder in Tower Records a month ago and to be honest I didn’t listen to the album that much yet, I just browse on the tracks…yesterday I was listening to Makeyourself and I was listening to it with full blow and with all my heart..i miss my old incubus... But for loving this band so much…eventually I’ll be loving their 7th released anytime soon too, just like Morning View ( the first time I heard the album..i really think it sucks!).. I have to accept the fact that they’re now re-inventing their music, that they wanted to try some new melodic approaches…some more of a radio-friendly kind of music..oh well they do it good anyway… but it’s really not my incubus music…well if they didn’t get big and famous because of selling out.. they would never been here..so it’s all good. We’re all happy. Apir!


Unfortunately I wasn’t able to take good pictures of the band…I’m in the good spot but still too far from a photo shoot spot…I’m trying my best to be able to get good shots for PULP, for my website and for other incubus fans who weren’t able to watch the concert...just wanted to share that super orgasmic experience. There was this one bouncer who’s going to seize my camera if I didn’t stop taking pictures.. that’s so horrible of him…i know he was just doing his job but really, it is so frustrating seeing my favorite foreign band on concert and I can’t take pictures of them ..masakit sobra.

During the concert I saw a blonde photographer who looks like Owen Wilson…hey I know this guy …he’s the official photographer of Incubus…BRIAN SMITH! ( I am so big time fan that I even know the names of their posse) I started calling him but he can’t hear me…Anne get along with me and he finally looked at us…you can see from his facial reaction this question “who the hell is calling my name?” he came quite near and I shouted “are you Brian Smith” he said yes and he smiled I think he was surprised and flattered that some manila girl knows him… “take picture of us”, I shouted. He gave us 3 shots and smiled again…and for your information I’m pretty sure that he’s gonna talk about that experience of him to the incubus members..and he’ll probably show ‘em our pics…cool huh!


After concert Mike Einziger toss out like 20 pieces of guitar picks and they just didn’t reached the concert populace so all the picks went down just to the bouncer’s area and I can fucking see all of the picks in front of me but I just cant get at least one pick because of the barricades blocking me… alam nyo kung sino nagkagulo sa mga guitar picks? YUNG MGA PUTANG INANG BOUNCERS NA YAN! As in tumpukan sila kakapulot ng Picks..they’re supposed to do their job right? Bakit lahat kayo najan? Para lang sa pick? Shempre we tried asking the bouncers to give us the Picks… and I just heard this super annoying comment “AKIN ‘TO E” that’s from a bouncer..and he’s like holding 6 pieces of picks…so nagmakaawa pa kame and he’s just smiling at us…it was a smirk actually.

we’re both so angry…my god If I were able to get one of those guitar picks I would treasure that pick for the rest of my life…

we’re still asking for guitar pics…then the bouncer started talking in English language..

Bouncer: WHAT DO YOU WANT? WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?

Those words were like the most irritating thing that I ever heard… hearing it from a trying hard-VISAYA sounding ugly loser bouncer! ( I have a lot of visayan friends..and I didn’t mean anything by that…no offense) PUTANG INA NAKAKABWISET! …babalikan kita…. I heard that these securities/ bouncers will be assisting PULP summerslam on April..hahanapin ko talaga yung putang inang bouncer na yun…hahanapin ko lang..tapos na.

Hay nakakapagod..i had great time..sige na malapit na ang paalaman…

After the concert I went to Westin Philippine Plaza Again…not for incubus (partly yes) but to meet a friend who’s staying there,Dencio.

am I a Brandon Boyd fan? YES…he’s beautiful inside and out. How I wish all males are like him…very sensitive and knows how to treat women right….hehehe..alam ko e no? am I an incubus fan because of Brandon? FUCK YOU! I suggest you take me to the beach this holy week and we will talk about incubus, their songs, their influences, their GFs and Pets, their friends, their hobbies even my own version of the music videos of their songs….oi gusto ko mag direct ng video ah…sa maniwala ka’t sa hinde…nagawan ko na ng concept halos kalahate ng songs nila…walang magawa e..kwento ko sayo gusto mo?
